The Ask
Modern Metal collaborated with the property owner, builder, and architect to enclose an exterior staircase with custom architectural panels that serve as both a functional enclosure and a defining architectural feature. The design introduced an artistic landmark element that complements the building’s modern aesthetic. Close coordination across all parties ensured the panels aligned seamlessly with the overall vision and performed as intended.
Modern Metal fabricated 69 custom steel panels featuring a continuous repeating pattern engineered for seamless visual flow. Each panel was precisely detailed with countersunk holes, primed, and powder coated with an exterior-grade finish on 11-gauge steel.
The panels were designed for efficient installation, attaching securely to metal struts with threaded bolts. Close coordination with the architect and construction team ensured proper attachment methods and flawless alignment across the façade.
