Rattan Remix is inspired by the traditional wicker weave structure of rattan, which consists of layers of interlocking and overlapping strips of natural fibers. ‘Stilkunst’ was a tongue-in-cheek mantra of the Werkstätte and the associated Vienna Secession, literally ‘art style’. Ovals and squares are contained in vertical bars of varying thickness; the ovals differ in size to create depth. We consider the parallel lines characteristic of the Wiener Werkstätte.
Part of our Werkstätte series, and influenced by Hoffman’s bold geometry and architectural references, Stempel features an elongated triangle shape which is mirrored and doubled in the negative space. It’s intended to be simple and clean with a fluid repeat that is easily customizable.
